Summary:
She embodied resentment, he carried the burden of guilt. Yet once, they were an unforgettable love.
Benjamin Jenkins could never forget Isabella Grace, his first love, the only person who could see the real Ben behind his façade of charm and humor. But his world of crime and betrayal was far too dangerous for her. So Ben disappeared without explanation overnight, leaving behind a memory that haunts him every day. The growing tension within the Scott network, on the verge of degenerating, only adds to his torment.
Isabella, for her part, hasn’t erased Ben from her memory. She takes it upon herself to contact him anonymously, seeking answers to the questions that prevent her from moving forward. Unaware that she is about to awaken feelings long buried beneath resentment, she exposes herself to mortal danger. Faced with this new opportunity, Ben isn’t sure he has the strength this time to let her go.
My opinion:
I loved discovering Ben’s story in this book!
He’s a secondary character in the first volume who’s funny, always has a smile on his face and makes everyone laugh. But discovering his story through a book dedicated to him is, I think, a great idea.
His story with Isabella is very touching. He wants to protect her at all costs, even if it means losing her.
And their story, which wasn’t over, was able to resume, and seeing Ben open up to someone outside the Scotts is very good for him. It gives him more strength for stressful events.
In summary:
This middle volume is very touching. It brings information to Volume 1 on certain situations and allows us to better understand Ben’s character! You don’t have to read it to be able to read volume 2 of Captive, but I’d strongly advise you to do so, as it provides additional elements!
NOTE: 8/10
